| Advice on Specifying |
When you have identified one or more Formica® products that seem generally suitable for your project, you will wish to analyse these carefully to determine:
(a) full suitability before finally specifying; (b) the most economical solution to achieve a given performance level.
In carrying out this analysis, it will pay to include among your considerations the following criteria for detail design and performance:
--------● product type * --------● colour / pattern / reference code * --------● surface finish / texture * -------------~ durability -------------~ wear resistance -------------~ ease of care and maintenance --------● grade * -------------~ vertical / horizontal application -------------~ heavy duty / light duty -------------~ postformability -------------~ fire performance * --------● sheet size * -------------~ economy in sheet use -------------~ panel configuration --------● wet or dry area * --------● structural performance --------● substrate * --------● balancer * --------● pre-conditioning --------● joint treatment * --------● edge treatment * --------● fixing method * --------● fitness for purpose
(Criteria asterisked are essential factors when preparing a specification clause.)
The other sections in this part of the web site contain detailed information on most of these factors.
