The deadline for receipt of entries to the 2006 Formica® Design a Laminate Competition is fast approaching. All entries must be received before 12 noon on Friday 20th January 2006. Launched in October 2003 to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the birth of Formica® laminate, the Formica Design a Laminate Competition is now in its third year and is going from strength to strength. Last year more than 1,850 entries were received.
Known throughout the 20th Century for its decorative surfacing solutions, the Formica® logo has become one of the world’s most recognised brands.
The Formica Design a Laminate Competition offers the chance to become part of this design classic in the 21st Century. The overall winner will receive an iMac G5 and have their design included within the Formica® Digital range, receiving a royalty on any sales of that design. Each of the four runners up for ‘Best in Category’ will receive an Apple iPod MP3 player. In addition, winning and shortlisted designs will be included in the Formica® Design a Laminate Book 2006.
Entrants to the competition are asked to submit their designs in A3 format, mounted on board. The competition designs should be appropriate for production in laminate and entered into one of following four design categories:
• Contemporary – a modern design that provides a look suitable for use in today’s interiors and conforms to current trends and styles;
• Organic – a design influenced by the natural world which creates the feeling of being at one with the environment and incorporates natural elements;
• Retro – a design that reflects the beginnings of modern interior design and is influenced by the second half of the 20th century;
• Street culture – a design that is influenced by the styles, fashions and attitudes of street culture.
The deadline for receipt of entries is strictly 12 noon on Friday 20th January 2006.
